The Elk County Treasurer is elected to a four-year term. The Treasurer serves as the custodian of county funds. The Treasurer’s Office receives and accounts for all money due or accruing to the county and receives all taxes collected by the County’s 12 Tax Collectors.

The Treasurer is the Tax Collector for the Hotel Room Rental Tax.

By statue the Treasurer serves as an Agent for the Commonwealth. As an agent, the County Treasurer is responsible for issuing hunting, fishing, and dog licenses. Through the Department of Revenue the small games of chance and bingo licenses are issued by the Treasurer’s Office. Sporting gun permits are issued by the Treasurer’s Office and are sent to the Pennsylvania State Police.

PA Boat Registration Update

Effective April 15, 2024 the Elk County Treasurer’s Office will no longer be processing boat titles and registrations.

This is due to the highly infrequent need for this service and the complexity of the process. We will instead refer you to the other licensed agents within the county to guarantee the best service possible. We will continue to process boat launch permits.
