The Elk County Recorder of Deeds Office is now offering a     FREE    expanded property fraud profile feature with automatic alerts. Property Owners can set-up their profile(s) online and receive alerts if a document is recorded against the information included in their profile at the Elk County Recorder of Deeds Office.

This tool is being offered to allow property owners to be involved in combating fraud. The new feature will give citizens assurance they will be alerted shortly after a document matching the criteria completed in their user profile is recorded. Together, constituents and the Elk County Recorder of Deeds Office will take a proactive step in fighting fraud.

Unfortunately, PREVENTING deed fraud is nearly impossible – what we CAN DO, is notify property owners by email soon after a document is recorded using any version of their name as specified in the profile.

When creating your profile, please include any variations of your name that you’d expect documents to contain (e.g., John Smith, John T. Smith, John Thomas Smith, J. T. Smith) to broaden the search.
